“For me, flowers are a lifelong passion.” – Cooki

Cooki started in the floral industry training in Los Angeles, California in 1971. She worked at Hortense of Arcadia, Arcadia, CA and Vicki’s Flower Shop in Rancho Cucamonga, two well established high end Flower Shops in California, before beginning her own business “Flowers by Cooki”. At Flowers by Cooki she serviced weddings and events throughout The Los Angeles Area. Cooki developed and maintained a close relationship with the Los Angeles Flower Mart vendors, Orchids of Hawaii in Hilo, Hawaii, and she also worked as a float decorator on Tournament of Roses floats.

After arriving in Glendale AZ in 1994, Cooki worked a full time job for the City of Glendale, and kept her passion for flowers alive by also working part-time for 1-800-FLOWERS, Blooming Bouquets in downtown Glendale, and helping at Wolz Florist.

In Arizona, Cooki has taught floral design classes for the City of Glendale’s Parks and Recreation Special Interest Department, while also teaching design team building classes for city staff. She also did centerpieces for City Boards and Commissions events as well as city staff retirement parties. After retiring from the City of Glendale, Cooki began working as Executive Assistant to the President and CEO of the Greater Phoenix Chamber of Commerce where she also taught design team building classes, and designed many centerpieces and events there. Ms. Valerie Manning, Chamber CEO’s Retirement Tribute Dinner was also a Major Special Event at the chamber where all flower decorations where coordinated by Cooki. She has also done home design parties throughout the Valley of the Sun, as well as California and most recently, St. Simons Island, Georgia.

Although her passion is floral design, Cooki has a love for the theatre. She worked under Lonnie Burr, one of the original Mouseketeers of the 1950s. She’s performed in Pasadena, California and locally. She was on the Board of Directors for the Playhouse Theatre for Children where she played “Mrs. Schwartz” in Fame. Her most recent performance was in December 2012, as “Mrs. Fezziwig” in “A Christmas Carol” for Theaterworks in Peoria. She also worked with the City of Glendale in writing and securing grants from the Arizona Arts Commission and the city to start the Glendale Jr. Players, (1998-2001) a children’s theatre group for children ages 5-12. and served as an AriZoni judge for children’s theater in 2001-2003.

At this time, Cooki is happy to bring her solid creative and artistic background in floristry and the arts to Peverini’s Custom Floral Design, LLC a private family owned Arizona Corporation. Cooki will be acting not only as The President/CEO but also Head Designer.
